On August 20, 2020

The UNESCO Learning Cities “Education for Sustainable Development” Theme Coordinating Cities Promotion (Video) Workshop was successfully held in Shanghai.

In 2020

Shanghai ESD Community Action Plan (2020-2021) coordinated and formulated by SMILE was officially released to the whole world through the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) platform.

In 2021

UIL introduced the achievements of Shanghai ESD to the whole world.

In 2023

Community Education for Sustainable Development: Observation on Shanghai’s Action (English Edition) complied by SMILE was officially published.

In 2024

Li Jiacheng, Executive Vice President of SMILE, attended the UNESCO online speech.

On December 3, 2024

During the 6th International Conference on Learning Cities (ICLC 6),SMILE released its latest publications: "Climate Change Education: China in Action" (in both Chinese and English) and the English version of "Community Education for Sustainable Development: Observation on Shanghai’s Action II".

In 2025

SMILE, the Shanghai Elderly Education Curriculum Research and Evaluation Guidance Center, and members of the “Climate Change Education Curriculum Development Consortium” attended the theme meeting of the ESD Working Group of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities.
